As the

Data Analyst, you will work under the direction of the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) to provide technical expertise and gather information from various sources, interpret patterns and trends to enhance the work in CPSA's Research & Evaluation Unit (REVU) within the Analytics, Innovation, & Research (AIR) department. To be successful in this role, you have great attention to detail to ensure data security, quality, and accuracy. You also have the ability to work simultaneously on various tasks to effectively contribute to the project team. Advanced knowledge of statistical methods/models and efficiently communicating results to internal and external stakeholders is required. Analytical experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) data, longitudinal data, programming experience in statistical software and data dashboard displays is preferred.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Work internally and with external collaborators to:

  • Plan, create, program, and manage complex statistical computer databases including extracting and cleaning data, and performing data quality checks.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and various data harmonization.
  • Consult with scientific investigators, interpret research requirements, and determine statistical analysis strategies.
  • Analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from complex statistical information and communicate data and results.
  • Process computer data, format, and generate reports.
  • Assist in conducting literature reviews, and developing grant proposals, research abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts of findings.
- **Work with REVU, AIR, and other colleagues to further advance CPSA's evidence-based research agenda**:
  • Perform data pulls and synthesis at request of colleagues.
  • Participate in the development, analysis, evaluation, and knowledge translation of various research projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with members of REVU to identify novel measures and predictors of physician performance.
  • Advise and assist in development of inferences and conclusions.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the use of various datasets to improve physician performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:


  • Specialized professional skills typically obtained through a Bachelor's degree plus professional certificate in area of specialty or equivalent, or additional classes in specialized area.
  • Master's Degree (MSc) in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics or a related field is an asset.

Experience:


  • Requirement for 5 to 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience using a variety of advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Experience working in SAS, SPSS, STATA, R, Python, or similar programming languages.

Skills:


  • Knowledge of scientific approach and research methodologies, scientific reporting and manuscript preparation requirements and standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of principles, concepts, methods, and standards of statistical research, current and emerging trends in advanced statistical analysis.
  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of probability and medical statistics theory.
  • Knowledge of data management principles and regulatory requirements for clinical trials and medical research.
  • Strong analytical, communication, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize projects.
  • Strong focus, quality and timely delivery of work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to design, analyze, and report on research or evaluation projects.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.

SALARY
The starting salary for this permanent full-time position is $78,079 and includes a comprehensive benefit package and pension plan.
