Manager of Finance and Administration
The Finance and Administration Manager oversees all administrative operating functions of the business unit.

Directs and coordinates all activities relating to project costs, cost accounting, planning, cash management, contract review & compliance requirements, and risk management.

This position will also be responsible for the monthly reporting of the business's results, project profitability, and variance analysis.

This position reports to the CEO and President.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of all aspects of accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, fixed asset activity, raw materials management, payroll, expense reimbursement, bank account and credit card reconciliation, timely collection of receivables etc.
  • Coordinate with key suppliers for order fulfillment, deliverables and payments.
  • Responsible for month end closing activities including reconciliation, inventory valuation and journal entries.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements
  • Responsible for monthly local, provincial, and federal government reporting and tax filings
  • Work with the President and CEO to establish annual budget, and to maintain budget control throughout the year
  • Manage foreign exchange and seek to minimize losses and maximize gains on any foreign exchanges
  • Coordinates with accounting firm for annual financial statements review/audit and reconcile YE
  • Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
  • Resolve complex accounting issues or assist other departments in resolving financial issues
  • Coordinate with key suppliers for maintenance of real property and assets
  • Supervise and provide training to staff members
  • Coordination and administration of the benefits program, workplace safety, regulatory compliance with all applicable government offices
  • Monitor the overall financial health using established metrics, project status, analyzes labor expenses, allocation of labor and material, variances, and degree of completion.
  • Prepare project profitability analysis, consolidates project information, and prepare financial statements promptly.
  • Manages cost accounting, budgetary, and data processing functions using established policies and procedures.
  • Check expenditure requests against approved budgets. Performs ROI and DCF analysis.
  • Ensure effective accounting, financial forecasting, analysis, financial systems, cash flow, and compliance.
  • Develop policies and supervise the control of cash, accounts receivable credits and collections, and accounts payable.
  • Maintain constant awareness of the project level and the company's financial position and act proactively to prevent problems.
  • Ensure adherence to ASPE.
  • Assist in establishing short and longrange departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:


  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision and as part of a team.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US tax laws
  • Strong Sage Simply Accounting, Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel) is a must.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments, meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:


  • College/University accounting degree/diploma
  • Certification from a recognized professional accounting association (e.g. CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience as an Accounting Manager

$65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
