The Leader, Learning Solutions serves as a specialized consulting resource on learning and education to a wide range of clients and stakeholders.

The position works with client groups to develop a culture of learning within the organization and assists employees to access personal development and continuing education opportunities.


What you'll do

Educational Leadership:
Lead the design and development of educational opportunities and learning solutions that will actively support systemic change and professional growth of BCEHS employees as they contribute to the delivery of health services by:

  • Leading and managing projects and interdisciplinary teams to: understand the learning and education needs of clients and stakeholders; propose and devise education programs and learning solutions in response to those needs; and propose and implement evaluation strategies and frameworks.
  • Leading and guiding individuals and teams in reflective practice efforts to: continually improve and enhance existing education programs and learning solutions; and propose and devise innovative learning solutions and education programs.
  • Devising standards and processes for evaluating individual and team performance, learning, and advancement towards the attainment of relevant competencies and goals.
  • Leading evaluation efforts by observing and interviewing learners, as well as by reviewing the performance and learning of individuals and teams and comparing those against established standards.
  • Managing, as System Administrator, learning management systems, content management systems, websites, SharePoint sites, and other systems and tools in support of learning and education.

Partner with Stakeholders and Develop Coalitions:
Consult and liaise on analyzing problems and opportunities, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and learning solutions with internal clients and external partners including:

  • BCEHS Leadership, Medical Directors, and Subject Matter Experts when undertaking needs analysis, learning design, educational development to consistently achieve articulated goals and objectives.
  • BC's Health Authorities and other external agencies involved in the delivery of education in the health professions.
  • Institutes of higher learning, academic and professional associations and networks in maintaining high educational standards and sharing best and emerging effective practices in learning and education.

Management of Program Area:
The Leader will be responsible to ensure the educational programs and learning solutions align with organizational goals and:

  • Develops, applies, and modifies learning materials, documents, templates and interfaces for education programs and learning solutions that are consistent with sound learning design principles.
  • Keeps current on, adopts, and adapts effective education models, practices and technologies for effective engagement and learning.
  • Engages colleagues across PHSA and external contractors in devising best possible education programs and learning solutions.
  • Develops contracts including identifying deliverables, defining contract scope, participating in vendor selection; monitors and evaluates the work of contractors including compliance with requirements and professional standards; and certifies satisfactory contract performance or recommends hold backs.

Staff Supervision:


  • Responsible for the selection, education, development, performance, employee relations, and supervision of a team of educators and specialists in learning design, evaluation, and support to achieve results and meet project deadlines.

Professional Development:


  • As a specialized consulting resource on learning and education to a wide range of clients and stakeholders, the Leader is required to maintain a current indepth knowledge of all relevant standards, policies, legislative requirements, educational methodologies, techniques and tools.

What you bring

Qualifications:


  • A Master's Degree in Learning Design, Curriculum, Adult Education, Educational Psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years' experience working in progressively responsible roles leading and managing teams.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practises used in contemporary learning design, curriculum development, and effective adult teaching and learning.
  • A general knowledge of clinical care provided in prehospital settings.
