Position Overview:


Responsible to the IMP CP140 OWSS Deputy Program Manager for the provision of asset management tasks on landing gear, APU, hydraulic power supply, fuel systems, gaseous oxygen systems, miscellaneous utilities, weapons delivery systems on the aircraft, including the provision of technical information and analysis, monitoring performance and maintenance requirements and recommending improvements to optimize life-cycle costs.

The Asset Management Specialist (AMS), will liaise with personnel throughout IMP, with the Weapon System Management (WSM) staff in Ottawa, and the CP140 operational units in Greenwood and Comox.

The AMS will coordinate the provision of technical information and analysis, monitor performance and maintenance requirements and provide business case analysis to recommend improvements that will result in optimized life-cycle costs and/or reduced operational impact.


What You Will Do:


  • Respond to and/or monitor inquiries from the CP140 units, WSM staff and IMP personnel for assigned equipment, providing assistance where the direction is already promulgated (CFTOs) or redirection of the request to the appropriate department within IMP as required;
  • Monitor the Information Exchange Site (IES) for requests for assistance (SRQ) and review and track the provision of a response to the originator ensuring that the response provided achieves the requirements of the originator, within the required timeline;
  • Monitor High Priority Requirement (HPR) listings, advise IMP Materiel regarding factors that influence HPR requests and research possible methods to eliminate repeat HPR requests for the same item;
  • Monitor parts holdings for all assigned consumables in light of demands and recommend to IMP LSA, Engineering and Material areas for study and adjustments to minimum/maximum levels;
  • Monitor parts holdings for all assigned repairables in light of demands and recommend adjustments to minimum/ maximum levels as well as throughput rates for parts in R&O, adjustments to items being held in repairable reserve or for Priority Repair Requests (PRR) with a view to reducing the requirement for expensive repair programs;
  • Liaise with both Materiel and LSA to monitor changes to consumption rates, mean time between failure (MTBF) rates ("bad actors"), increases in repair turn around times and obsolescence issues and provide recommendations to IMP ILS, Engineering and Materiel for technical investigations, alternate parts provisioning, lifetime buys and additional R&O sources;
  • Assist with the collection of performance metric information related to Materiel Support (PAV Part Conformance and Materiel Satisfaction Rate) and Maintenance (Aircraft Discrepancy Rate).
  • Maintain records and track all issues, tasks, activities and projects using the appropriate medium i.e. databases, electronic files and paper files as required to maintain oversight on assigned equipment and systems

What You Will Bring:


  • Postsecondary education, preferably in mechanical engineering or significant aircraft maintenance experience, preferably in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability in aircraft fleet maintenance management, project management, business management and/or logistics management, and;
  • 510 years of aerospace technical experience with broad aircraft systems exposure, ideally with the P3/CP140.
  • Strong knowledge of the operation and maintenance of assigned CP140 (or similar) equipment and systems.
  • Working knowledge of the CF Supply System (or equivalent) would be an asset.
  • Sound technical writing skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and partner effectively with internal organizations to achieve desired business results
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving, negotiation, organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools is required. A working knowledge of CFSS, DWAN or Enterprise Systems (JDE) would be an asset
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC
  • Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
