Job Summary:

Provide primarily Health, Safety and Ergonomic support to both Hydroform Solutions and Hydroform Coatings, in addition to secondary support on some HR related activities.


Required Education and Experience:


  • Completion of/or in process of obtaining postsecondary education in related field; Health and Safety, Kinesiology and/or Advanced Ergonomics/Human Factors
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • 1 year work experience in health, safety and/or ergonomics
  • Knowledge of various ergonomics assessment tools such as NIOSH, ACGIH TLV, UofM 3DSSPP etc... is an asset
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of best practices in HR, Health, Safety and Ergonomics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to details

Essential Functions:


  • Ensure assessments are completed as per targets set by your Supervisor/Manager
  • Support H&S Coordinator on all aspects of ReturntoWork program utilizing ergonomics tools available to ensure productive, safe and suitable job demands for employees immediately following a workrelated injury
  • Champion all training related to safety, LOTO, equipment pretest ahead of assignment, e.g. Reach, counter balance and Tugger
  • Liaison with affected Team Members to ensure successful completion of processes and support machine buy off in relation to Health, Safety & Ergonomics aspects & impacts
  • Promote best Health, Safety & ergonomics practices within the company
  • Conduct PDDs as needed to ensure physical demands are quantified for each job and ongoing review as needed due to relocation and/or movement of equipment within the plant
  • Conduct safety walks to identify & investigate Ergonomics/Safety related issues
  • Maintain up to date knowledge with current industry tools for improving work processes and ergonomics
  • Conduct Safety Inspections and participant in our monthly JHSC meeting, initial continuous improvement and corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure that health, safety & ergo postings around the facility are up to date
  • Responsible for tracking PPE refund/deductions
  • Maintain up to date records on Environmental Manifests, SDS and Ergo Tips Board also First Aid supplies in our First Aid Room. Replenish supplies as needed
  • Coordinate departmental initiatives to improve Health and Safety programs
  • Monitor on a weekly basis our Powerfleet software for drivers safe driving behavior. Notify the H&S Coordinator of any safety concerns that must be corrected in a timely manner
  • Responsible to track all Health and Safety audits & LOTO checks from each Department. Report any deficiencies to the H&S Coordinator and follow up on corrective actions
  • Address employee Health, Safety and Ergonomics concerns and follow up for timely completion and resolution
  • Back up for Health and Safety Coordinator on all aspect of the safety related functions
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Working Environment:


  • Both office setting and production environment
  • 60% office, 40% plant floor (PPE required)
  • Flexible hours as required

  • Require communication with employees, peers and management
