Description

Bright Civil Construction is seeking a skilled and experienced HDD Locator to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for accurately locating drill shots and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of field projects.

You will read and interpret drawings and locates, maintain communication with the Driller, and participate in site safety meetings. This position requires working in various weather conditions and the ability to perform labor tasks as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

• Read and understand drawings and locates to accurately locate drill shots
• Use locating devices during drill shots and maintain radio communication with Driller
• Verify drill head positioning and daylighted sight holes
• Participate in site safety meetings and complete safety documentation
• Work with the Driller to complete directional drill shots for placing fiber conduit or other shallow utilities
• Complete walkthroughs of drill shots with the drilling foreman before conducting work
• Maintain communication with the Driller at all times
• Follow HSE and quality management procedures
• Provide HDD drill head location services for fiber installation projects
• Install conduit, vaults, and cable as needed
• Maintain all equipment in good and safe working condition
• Perform labor tasks using shovels and hand tools, including site cleanup

Qualifications:

• Experience in horizontal directional drilling and locating
• Knowledge of drilling equipment, electronics, and procedures
• Ability to read locates and underground facility plans/drawings
• Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to react quickly to changing conditions
• Commitment to safety and adherence to health and safety requirements
• Clean and current driver's license and abstract
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and in confined spaces
