Brown's is a comprehensive Dining Service Provider with creative solutions to all facets of food service. We are a currently seeking a cook for our assisted living home kitchen in Brantford. Shift

  • Thursday to Sunday shift.
  • Thu & Fri 10 AM 6:30 PM
  • Sat & Sun 6 AM 6:30 PM

Compensation:

Starting at $17.50. Based on experience.


Job Duties

  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods.
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to standard recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Prepare meals that are nutritious and appetizing according to menus and recipes as well as to physician orders for diet, diet texture, and liquid thickness
  • Ensure that all food remains eyeappealing and replenished throughout the service
  • Perform scheduled cleaning, stocking, and rotation and maintenance tasks
  • Tear down line after service either storing correctly or disposing of product
  • Ensure that correct storage conditions for products such as meats, produce, and dairy are maintained
  • Load, run and unload industrial dish machine
  • Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years industrial cooking and food service experience
  • Solid knowledge of food preparation and handling principles, processes, procedures, policies, directives and guidelines
  • An understanding of therapeutic diets would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, meet time targets, with strong organization skills
  • Knowledge of equipment and materials to use / operate used in food preparation areas such as grills, ovens, deep fryers, slicers, steamers and knives
  • Current Safe Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to get one.
  • Successful Police Check will be required
  • Fully vaccinated as this location is a long term care facility

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
