    What Is in It for You:

    The Managing Director, Investment Finance & Complex Transaction Advisory , SLC Finance will lead a diverse team that includes Global Investment Financial Reporting & Analysis, Financial Planning & Analysis and Complex Transaction Advisory and will be responsible for consolidated financial reporting and analysis for our diverse global investment portfolio in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The large scale, scope and complexity of this role requires an advanced level of technical proficiency, analytical insights, and operational efficiency. Key stakeholders include Investment Front Office, Strategic Investments, Portfolio Management, Asset Liability Management, Credit Risk Management, Corporate Accounting, and Investor Relations.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the team that has overall responsibility and management for complete, accurate, and timely consolidated financial reporting processes for the Sun Life General Account invested asset portfolio.
  • Lead the team that prepares the quarterly financial review package for investment results including forecast, in-depth attribution analysis of key market and business drivers, and presentation of the results to senior management.
  • Lead that team that manages the credit review process for Sun Life's global investments and ensures the proper application of IFRS standards to the credit process.
  • Lead the team that manages the Expected Credit Loss model under IFRS 9 including the related attribution analysis, reporting and disclosures.
  • Interpret accounting guidelines, provide accounting policy recommendations, identify financial reporting implications, and educate stakeholders for new accounting standards and complex transactions.
  • Lead the team that prepares impact assessments of consolidation under IFRS 10 for investments into related party funds and structures.
  • Overall responsibility and management of Sun Life's investment related financial statement notes requirements, management discussion & analysis, board reporting and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external guidelines.
  • Provide leadership and expertise to strategic projects and initiatives.
  • WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Professional Accounting/Finance designation (CPA/CFA) with 10+ years of investment related industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of invested assets and relevant IFRS standards with particular focus on IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and IFRS 10 Consolidated financial statements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills to service all members of the user community.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex accounting material to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build, manage and lead a diverse team of finance professionals across multiple business locations.
