Description

Track Supervisors with Cando are responsible for the supervision of the employees on site, budgeting and business planning, overseeing the site purchasing and payroll, meeting Safety requirements, liaising with the customers and contractors, and developing new business
.

Roles and Responsibilities

Guides the operations of the job site ensuring the necessary people, equipment, and other resources are available to effectively provide our service
Inspect tracks for defects; coordinate necessary repairs so that tracks meet safety operating standards
Ensure that all maintenance performed on the assigned territory complies with current standards; confirms that track is safe for authorized train speeds or protected; accordingly
Complete minor track repairs as necessary
Supports all daily job briefings, reviews hazard analysis, and acts as the champion of all safety initiatives
Responsible for overseeing that safety precautions and measures are met in conjunction with Cando's standards and policies
Promotes the general maintenance on equipment is maintained and audits daily logbooks are accurately completed
Responsible to review daily job briefing reports, audit purchases for supplies and timesheets, WCB forms, productivity reports, and equipment logs
Build relationships with the customer, interface in a proper and professional manner with the customer via phone, radio, or in person
Communicating with customers and developing more potential business opportunities
Liaising with suppliers and contractors
Ensures the production of the job site is aligned with the project plans and carries out the plans as directed
Manages job site which include participating in coaching and leading activities, monitors payroll and WCB functions

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Demonstrates initiative to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload; meet project plans in a constantly changing environment
Demonstrates leadership including establishing focus, providing motivational support, fostering teamwork, and empowering others
Possesses a working understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to area of expertise
Ability to establish rapport with people and influence opinions and attitudes
Skilled in the use of computer equipment and operating systems including word processing, and spreadsheet and database software
Ability to hold and maintain clear drug & alcohol testing; hold and maintain a valid driver's license, CROR, TIGS, eRailsafe, First Aid and CPR
Ability to travel throughout Western Canada for extended periods of time (generally 10 days on, 4 days off or 5 days on and 2 off)

Education & Experience

General knowledge of track construction principles and operational and production capabilities of various equipment
Good oral and written communication skills
Basic mathematics skills and familiarity with reading blueprints and schematics
