We're looking for a Casual Crisis Counsellor I / II to join our team

Role Summary

Reporting to ECMHS Management, the Crisis Counsellor demonstrates proficiency in the assessment and development of treatment plans related to individuals and families experiencing a crisis. The Crisis Counsellor represents Wood's Homes to community professionals, the public, and to individuals and families. Duties and responsibilities may be performed autonomously and include immediate telephone response and timely mobile visits in the home and/or community. The Crisis Counsellor will demonstrate due diligence in being exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood's Homes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all persons calling for crisis assistance receive prompt, professional, and effective services.
  • Provides emergency face-to-face meetings in the home and/or in the community.
  • Supports other Wood's Homes Programs by offering crises support.
  • Ensures that community professionals collaterally involved with a case are kept up to date about developments and are included in case planning with the permission of the family.
  • Ensures that up to date information about community resources are available to families and young people.
  • Reviews difficult cases through a consultation process with Program Managers and other designated consultants.
  • Ensures that information concerning services provided is accurately logged and tabulated.
  • Assists with the collection of data to demonstrate program use and identify areas of community need.
  • Is responsible for the overall maintenance of the workspace.
  • Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Level I - Undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences.
  • Level II - Masters degree in the Social Sciences.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of residential/community child and youth care experience and/or crisis work experience is preferable.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Personal suitability.
