CAD Technician Level

1
Skills and Qualifications
This individual must have completed post-secondary education and obtained a College Diploma in his or her field of specialty.

The individual must be able to work well independently, and also in a team environment taking direction from supervisory staff in managing their project workload.

A Level 1 CAD Technician shall possess strong technical skills related to drafting and drawing production within their field, have excellent skills and training with the latest AutoCAD and/or REVIT drafting software, with problem solving ability and skills related to planning drawing layouts, sequencing of drawings, drawing production and creation of details.

Both written and verbal communication skills will be developed as a Level 1 CAD Technician.


Level 1 duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform field measureups during design stages, under supervision of others
  • Prepare preliminary layouts for drawing packages, under supervision of others
  • Prepare full design drawings using AutoCAD and/or REVIT, under supervision of others
  • Be proficient in utilizing AutoCAD and/or REVIT to create design drawing packages, utilizing company standards and protocols
  • Review fabrication and/or shop drawings, under supervision by others
  • Develop skills in construction/design specification writing, under supervision by others
  • Develop coordination skills related to other Engineering/Architectural disciplines
  • Attend workload and group meetings to review workload for managing projects
  • Work within a team environment to assist structural designers and engineers with drawing production
