Job Summary


The Asset Officer, Equipment Management Pool (EMP) is responsible for providing support and coordinating the preparation and movement of containers on rubber crosstown movements between railroads in Chicago.

The role is the primary contact for all communication of all containers that require movements, exception management, customs clearance, required billing and documentation and routing to and from the proper rail terminals.

This primarily includes the Equipment Management Pool Program business and Mexico destined container movements.

Main Responsibilities

Routing and Validating

  • Verify all required documents and routing for accuracy
  • Perform data entry of all required information into the dispatch system (Pegasus)
  • Forecast 1 to 3 days in advance for dispatch power planning
  • Match back container movements meeting a target of 90%
  • Maintain ontime service requirements meeting a target of 95% for ontime connections
  • Provide monthly financial cost reviews of the average cost for oneway and round trips
  • Bridge the gaps and maximize synergy between Railroads to maintenance service
Exception Management

  • Keep correct and accurate billing
  • Complete all customs clearance, compliance, and approval
Support Carrier Management

  • Provide a forecast for the volume of containers that require movement to other railyards in Chicago, both daily and weekly
  • Provide forecasting trends for longterm requirements both monthly and quarterly
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role is required to be on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.


Requirements:

Experience

Customer Service and Dispatch

  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in Customer Service or Dispatch
  • Experience in time management and organization
Education/Certification/Designation

  • College diploma in Administration or Business
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Logistics Professional (CITT) or North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) certification
  • Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of appropriate CN computer systems (Pegasus Dispatch, Vendor Settlement system, Service Reliability System (SRS)) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Chicago Crosstown process and locations of all destinations
  • Knowledge of the Truck Transportation industry
