About the role


This is a temporary position of a duration of 24 months.

What you'll do:


  • Build a compelling vision for the Operational Risk Management program and ensure appropriate resources and tools are available to meet the vision/end state.
  • Ensure that a sound framework for key operational risks (policies, guidelines, procedures, etc.) is in place and deployed across the Corporation in accordance with the three lines of defense model.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for the implementation and optimization of the GRC platform, aligning it with CMHC's strategic objectives and lead the design and implementation of the GRC platform to meet CMHC's risk management and internal audit needs and other areas within the corporation.
  • Provide riskrelated guidance to business lines (methodology, process, etc.) and risk oversight to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships across CMHC to build a better understanding of risks and risk mitigation within key businesses (commercial and noncommercial) and in the implementation of the GRC.
  • Lead a team, delegating responsibility and accountability, while building capabilities within a division and develop objectives and take responsibility for engagement, enabling a culture of learning, performance management and accountability for a division.

What you should have:


  • A postgraduate degree in a related field such as business, finance and / or computer science.
  • Minimum of ten years of prior experience working in a risk function with at least ten years of management experience with direct supervision.
  • Detailed understanding of key operational risk within CMHC's or a financial institution environment.
  • Experience implementing new operational risk management programs and / or approaches.
  • Experience with risk tool enablement (preferably the implementation of a GRC platform).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the ability to influence a wide stakeholder group, including senior management.
  • Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills combined with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and make linkages between key risks and their impacts.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
