Cambridge United is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1973. Affiliated with League1 Ontario, Canada
Soccer, Ontario Soccer, WRSL, and SWRSA. Committed to developing player's technical soccer skills, as well as
their sportsmanship, through offering a variety of programs. Offer indoor and outdoor soccer programs for
recreational and competitive teams. OPDL License Holder since 2018.

Our mission is to provide organized soccer and a development pathway for players within our community. Our
objective is to promote and develop the game of soccer within its boundaries, and to help individuals to
develop their character as resourceful and responsible members of their community by providing opportunities,
through the game of soccer, for their mental, physical, social and leadership development.


Position Summary:

The Grassroots/Academy Manager role is a full-time position reporting to the Technical Director. In alignment
with Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer's High Performance and Player Development Program, this role will
have responsibility and accountability for strategy development, planning, implementation, and management
of staff/volunteers within the grassroots Recreational programming (u- Adult) and Academy (Competitive
U13+) programs.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


Grassroots

  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, implement the club's technical plan and organize
soccer programming for U3-Adult including Recreational, Community groups, Schools & Adult leagues
in accordance with Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer guidelines.

  • Assist the Clubs programs Manager in recruiting, managing, and retaining all volunteer game
leaders/coaches.

  • Ensure that the certification, recognition, appreciation, and advancement of volunteers is conducted in
a timely manner and collaborative environment.

  • Support volunteer coaches via coach education on field and classroom sessions
  • Identify and work with the Technical Director and High-Performance Manager to retain and transition
- players as appropriate between player development streams.
  • Develop and execute new programs approved by the Technical Director designed towards enhanced
- player development, retention, and revenue generation.
  • Responsible for planning and executing of March break and summer camp programming.
  • Responsible for planning and executing of school outreach programming.
  • Identify other communitybased opportunities for increasing club awareness, creative partnerships, and

- innovation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Academy (Competitive u13+)

  • In collaboration with the Technical Director and High-Performance Manager, implement the club's
technical plan and organize soccer programming for U13+ competitive squads in accordance with
Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer guidelines district and regional competitions.

  • Assist the Technical Director in recruiting, managing, and retaining all employed Academy coaching
staff.

  • Ensure that the certification, recognition, appreciation, and advancement of employed Academy
coaching staff is conducted in a collaborative environment.

  • Support Academy coaching staff via coach education on field and classroom sessions
  • Identify and work with the Technical Director and High-Performance Manager to retain and transition
players as appropriate between player development streams.

  • Identify and work with the Technical Director and High-Performance Manager to develop Academy
coaches to progress into the OPDL & L1 environments

  • Work in collaboration with the Technical Director and High-Performance Manager to schedule training
sessions, exhibition games, classroom tactical sessions, and coach development sessions considering all
club programming needs.**
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Well established leadership, personal and staff management skills
  • Able to lead a team and to work harmoniously with colleagues, work with initiative and energy.
  • Understands the importance of relationship management and customer service, ability to build and
- maintain strong relationships within the soccer community and sport sector.
  • Well established and developed presentation and facilitation skills.
  • A talent for innovation and creativity, and the skill set to move from the strategic development stage to
- action to achieving a pre-defined level of performance measurements.
  • Possess a high energy level and a commitment to and passion for the cause of the player/coach
- education/development, including a dedication to excellence.
  • Experience in problem solving and ensuring challenges are turned into positive learning opportunities.
  • High levels of personal integrity and a very strong work ethic.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience/understanding of CS/OS player & coach development pathways.
