Overview


Reporting to the Manager of International, the Global Academic Support Specialist is a member of the Learner Support Team and is responsible for academic and operational functions that support instructors and students Robertson.

Key Responsibilities


Teaching and Learning Functions:

  • Investigates and makes recommendations to the Manager, Teaching and Learning on issues related to instructional approach, academic support, attendance and retention
  • Implements academic policies, procedures and processes in accordance with Teaching and Learning standards.
  • Work with the student support team and teaching and learning team to identify areas of continued instructional improvement.
  • Assist with implementation of Instructor Accountability Framework
  • Supports instructors to provide guidance to students with academic needs.
  • Troubleshoots and helps to solve technical issues in the digital learning environment for instructors and send updates to LMS administrators and relevant team members.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of all instructional training and professional development opportunities at Robertson.

Academic Functions:

  • Assists with the implementation of accommodation plans (for textbooks/resources)and ensures support for students on accommodations. Facilitates the Learner Review Committee meetings and collaborates with other teams to assist students
  • Maintains regular contact with assigned learners on the Learner Review Committee and follows the Learner Review Committees process and guidelines
  • Assists with the Individual Academic Plans and Credit Transfers/Reenrollments
  • Facilitates student requests for additional support; works directly with students as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
College, Division, and Program Activities

  • Attend faculty/staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Participate proactively in performance appraisals.
  • Support active interdepartmental cooperation with other departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Practicum and Career Services.
  • Perform other duties/participate in special projects as assigned.
Desired Position Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of experience in training and/or teaching.
  • Strong communication and customer services skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students and team members.
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Highly selfmotivated and selfdirected; objectiveoriented with a highlevel attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience with course development software and Learning Management Systems (D2L preferred).
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with a team to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong computer and digital literacy skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.
  • A clear criminal records check and child abuse registry check.
Hours of Work

Monday to Friday:
(1 PM - 9PM).
