    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Director of HR Services, the Labour Relations and HR Services Coordinator provides support to the Employee and Labour Relations teams. Building on current best practices, the Labour Relations and HR Services Coordinator works collaboratively with the Employee and Labour Relations teams to identify, develop, enhance, implement and maintain an effective employee and labour relations environment that supports the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. This position requires a high performing, self-motivated individual with exceptional organizational and administrative skills and having a demonstrated commitment to customer service will allow one to excel in this position. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment and be able to disseminate complex information quickly in order to maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external partners.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides input into employee and labour relations issues;
  • Assists in monitoring the Hospital's workforce adherence to policies, procedures and applicable collective agreements;
  • Supports thorough and effective research through best practices, for collective bargaining or other labour negotiations and similar, as required;
  • Provides senior-level administrative support to Director of HR Services, including but not limited to organizing, coordinating and prioritizing daily activities of the Director, including detailed daily calendar management, scheduling meetings and day to day administrative oversight;
  • Prepares and edits senior leader level communications, briefing notes and PowerPoint presentations;
  • Research case law or outcomes of previous case hearings;
  • Tracks all grievances, arbitration cases and reports statistics as requested, in addition to tracking team deliverables;
  • Coordinates the details of grievance hearings or other meetings;
  • Provides assistance in preparing relevant documentation for negotiations team;
  • Assists in preparing letters related to employee and labour relations activities as requested;
  • Aids in preparing reports and presentations to communicate to Human Resources staff and management on employee and labour relations issues and/or strategies;
  • Supports in delivering employee and labour relations training to client groups as needs are identified;
  • Independently carries out all assigned responsibilities and provides general departmental administrative support;
  • Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with internal and external partners ;
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with management, program leadership, professional staff and staff across the organization;
  • Key Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a related discipline or a certificate in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Recent employee and labour relations experience in a unionized hospital or other complex public sector preferred
  • Experience in providing senior level administrative support
  • A broad knowledge of all functions of Human Resources to properly address labour relations issues
  • Excellent analytical and interpretation skills
  • Effective listening, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation and records
  • Excellent computer skills (including knowledge of MS Office applications, Internet)
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team of professionals
  • Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with staff at all levels, including Legal and union officials
  • Position Location and Travel: Travel among the 3 main sites of Trillium Health Partners will be required. Hybrid with work from home approximately 50% of the time.
