Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Electronics Technician will provide technical support to the Maintenance, Operations, Manufacturing, Design/Engineering teams, Technical Services and provide leadership for existing Electronics Technicians / Apprenticeship team.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise apprentices and junior Etechs ensuring they follow outlined processes.
  • Aid the Maintenance manager in performance reviews specific to the electronics discipline.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronics and power distribution systems on all equipment (cement pumpers, water trucks, vac trucks, tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, ptanks, spreaders, other infrastructure equipment, and more).
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all electrical systems including, but not limited to, programmable logic controllers, HMI screens, computers, engine and hydraulic controls, radios, switches, relays, breakers/fuses, greasers, electrichydraulic valves and solenoids, batteries, lighting, heaters, and electronic tracking devices.
  • Inspect and provide preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with our scheduled maintenance program.
  • Record and document all inspections, work orders, and repairs accurately in a timely manner. Ensure timesheets and expenses are accurate and filled daily. Document all parts used and/or ordered for all equipment following the proper procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is field ready as quickly and safely as possible, ensuring that the data acquisition system records all data correctly. Provide support to Operations to the best of your ability to keep equipment operational.
  • Provide support and feedback to Manufacturing, Design, Parts, and the rest of Maintenance regarding maintenance, preventative maintenance, system failures, part defects, human errors, safety hazard identification, or anything else that would improve our equipment. Analyze operational issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability and durability.
  • Aid in New Product Development, and continued efforts to improve existing designs.
  • Assist with selecting and installing components in accordance with all regulations and codes. Ensure all components are rated correctly for pressure, temperature, weather, etc.
  • Follow all safety standards and protocols including always wearing necessary PPE.
  • Identify and document all observed hazards and provide solutions to resolve hazards to create a safer workplace.
  • Ensure all safety tickets, driver's license, and any other required certification are in good standing, including sitespecific orientations, H2S certificate, and First Aid Level-C certification.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications - Required

  • Degree/diploma in electrical/electronic/instrumentation engineering at an accredited post secondary such as SAIT, NAIT, or equivalent. Journeyperson ticketed Electrician or Instrumentation Technician with industrial experience considered equivalent.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an industrial setting with a working understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical systems/components.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting drawings and schematics.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
  • Full Class 5 Driver's License (non GDL) [Alberta]
  • H2S Awareness and First Aid
  • Level C (company can provide). All other safety certificates considered an asset.
  • Able and willing to frequently travel out of town, work overtime, overnight and on weekends.
  • Must have superior problemsolving skills and be able to work unde pressure.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Qualifications - Looking For

  • Experience with electrical integration of motor vehicle components.
  • Experience with Software Interfacing.
  • Electrical Systems integration experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable standard.
  • Superior problemsolving skills.
Qualifications - Assets

  • Oilfield equipment maintenance experience with industrial electronics/electrical systems considered a strong asset.
  • Software development and integration considered a strong asset.
  • PLC and HMI installation, programming, and design experience considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with diesel engines and engine diagnostics considered an asset.
  • Class 1 or class 3 license considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems considered an asset.
