Join Atlantic Lottery as Our New Environment Specialist

A brand-new role with big impact—help shape the future of our delivery environments. Atlantic Lottery is growing, and we're excited to introduce an Environment Specialist position reporting directly to our Release Manager. This is your opportunity to shape how environments are managed across the organization and play a key role in enabling stable, secure, and seamless software delivery.

If you're passionate about creating reliable, automated, and well-governed environments—and love working closely with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams—this could be your perfect next step.

    Why This Role Matters

As our Environment Specialist, you'll be the backbone of our development lifecycle—ensuring that every environment runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently. You'll collaborate across the organization, contribute to automation and CI/CD improvements, and help ensure our systems meet industry compliance standards.

This is a unique opportunity to help build and evolve environment management practices from the ground up.

    What You'll Do

    Environment Planning & Strategy

    • Coordinate day-to-day operations across development, QA, and staging environments.
    • Execute environment management activities aligned with application lifecycle needs.
    • Follow governance, security, and compliance standards while contributing insights to environment roadmaps.

    Provisioning & Automation

    • Provision, configure, mask data, and perform environment refreshes.
    • Build and enhance automation using Infrastructure as Code, standardized images, and reusable templates.
    • Promote automation-first practices to improve consistency and efficiency.

    Security, Compliance & Continuity

    • Apply required security controls and maintain audit-ready environments.
    • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
    • Work with Security and Risk teams to meet regulatory standards (SOC2, ISO27001, etc.).

    Collaboration & Issue Management

    • Partner with development, operations, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to resolve environment issues quickly.
    • Ensure environment readiness and coordinate changes to prevent conflicts.

    Performance Monitoring & Optimization

    • Monitor performance, capacity, and operational trends.
    • Recommend improvements and automation opportunities.
    • Maintain data for environment SLAs, KPIs, and cost management reporting.

    Documentation & Best Practices

    • Create and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for environment management.
    • Support continuous improvement and promote consistency across teams.

    Financial & Vendor Support

    • Assist with vendor coordination and environment-related budgeting.
    • Optimize cloud and infrastructure costs through rightsizing and reservation planning.

    Qualifications We're Looking For

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
    • 3-5+ years in environment management or similar IT roles.
    • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Experience with environment metrics, SLAs, and audit support.
    • Must be 19+ and reside in Atlantic Canada.

    Technical Skills

    • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • ITIL familiarity
    • Monitoring tools & performance tuning
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Budgeting and vendor management

    Professional Skills

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for diverse audiences
    • Proven collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple environment activities simultaneously
    • High attention to detail, especially with configuration, compliance, and documentation
    • Adaptability in fast-changing technical environments
    • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on standardization and automation

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Certifications: ITIL, cloud architecture, DevOps
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

    • Work from either our Moncton or Halifax office.
    • During Probation: Full-time, in-office (Moncton preferred)
    • After Probation: Choose full-time in office or hybrid (2-3 days/week on-site)

    Compensation

    • Salary Band: $75,200 - $122,200
    • Expected hiring range: $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

    • Two in-person interviews
    • An assignment and/or scenario-based questions
    • Behavioral or cognitive assessments
    • Verification of relevant certifications (as applicable)

All interviews are conducted in English, our primary working language, unless otherwise specified.

Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Successful candidates will undergo reference checks and a mandatory criminal background check. Additional financial, educational, or credential verifications may be required depending on the role.

    Internal Candidates

Internal applicants must be in good standing, which includes meeting expectations on their most recent performance review. Performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, attendance, mandatory training, and other performance related factors may be considered. A Predictive Index (PI) assessment will also be conducted or shared with hiring managers.

    Eligibility to Work in Canada

Candidates must have all required work permits, visas, and authorizations and be eligible to work in Canada at the time an offer is made. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure these requirements.
