    The Opportunity

    The City of St. Albert is accepting applications for Casual Labourers in our Public Operations department. These are popular seasonal summer positions that offer primarily full time hours and the opportunity to work outdoors while maintaining St. Albert's superior green spaces, roadways and infrastructure for our residents.

    We are looking for individuals with excellent customer service, teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. These positions mostly work outdoors and in various weather conditions. Candidates working inside one of our City facilities can expect to work in different environments and on varied surfaces.

    Duties may vary based on placement area and could include tasks related to public park spaces, water and wastewater, road maintenance, building maintenance, garage and maintaining recycling and compost depots. Physical labour includes repetitive task movements pushing and pulling and lifting up to 60 lbs repeatedly as well as standing for extended periods.

    Qualifications


    •Valid class 5 drivers license (full or GDL).

    •Physical ability to conduct assigned duties as including lifting, sitting, riding, and standing.

    •Class 3 with Q endorsement is considered an asset.

    •Preference will be given to those candidates who currently have Standard or Emergency First Aid and Defensive Driver training.

    •Related work experience is beneficial so please identify any prior labour or maintenance experience and indicate expertise with handheld or power tools and small equipment.

    Hours of Work

    The hours of work may vary by position but is generally full time (40 hours per week).
    Some positions require afternoon shifts.

    $ $20.22 per hour

    Conditions of Employment

    The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory police information check and provide a Driver's abstract demonstrating a valid class 5 drivers license (full or GDL) with no more than 6 demerits.
