**Banquet Houseperson

  • The Westin Nova Scotian**You like setting things up to look perfect, but don't mind breaking them all down again. As Banquet Houseperson you set, maintain and refresh the banquet meeting rooms according to the sales contract and hotel standards.

As
Banquet Houseperson you will:

Be a BEO Expert - understanding your BEO so you can set up and break down each event safely and efficiently. Everything needs to shine - floors, walls, windows, mirrors, etc. (be sure you are reporting anything in less than perfect condition to maintenance for repair). You also are ensuring supplies are readily available per the BEO and all equipment is set up and working properly.

Be a Friendly Face - arriving at work on time to get the banquet set up and ready to go and assisting the service staff and the guest throughout the event as needed.

Be the Flipper - efficient undertaking post function cleaning duties - floors, tables, buffet stations, etc. The Banquet Housepersons duties include ensuring banquet space is quickly flipped and all areas are spotless for the next guest/function.

Be a Safety & Security Agent - following your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and ask for management assistant as needed.


Requirements:


The main duties of the Banquet Houseperson position is to set, maintain and refresh hotel banquet meeting rooms according to sales contract and company standards.

They also ensure cleanliness of the floor and assist supervisor during large functions.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Convention/Banquet experience preferred.
  • Server training course helpful.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:


  • Clean and set banquet and meeting rooms for functions.
  • Arrange tables, chairs, etc. to proper specifications.
  • Transport and store tables, chairs, and other equipment.
  • Keep banquet and meeting rooms clean.
  • Deliver water, glasses, etc. to rooms as needed.
  • Clean and break down rooms when functions are complete.
  • Shampoo carpets and upholstery.
  • Polish brass and metals.
  • Read and comprehend BEO's.
  • Attend all training sessions and department meetings.
  • Maintain proper inventory of cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain work ethic and be accountable.
  • Perform side work duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
  • Knowledge of proper recycling and food waste processing.
  • Clean windows.
  • Keep storeroom neat and orderly.
  • Other duties as required.
