Student Accounting Officer

Term (May - August) Position

Regina Campus

  • Under the general direction of the Comptroller and with the guidance of the Director of Finance, the Student Accounting Officer, will be primarily responsible for providing entry level financial transactions in accounts receivable and payables including issuing payment to suppliers in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality with respect to all information obtained in the performance of duties.
  • Process cheques for payment to suppliers in a timely manner, including matching up purchase orders and invoices.
  • Coordinate and process Travel Expense and Travel Advance claims, Professional Development Request claims, Elder Honorariums/Guest Lecturer Request claims, and Contract payments, ensuring proper approval prior to issuing payment.
  • Maintain finance system including data entry on a daily basis.
  • Assist with student account inquiries.
  • Assists with the preparation of variance reports.
  • Maintain the filing system for the Finance area.
  • Provide holiday relief in a backup capacity for the Accounting Officer(s).
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education Requirements:


  • This employment opportunity is being funded through the Government of Canada's First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy
  • Summer Work Experience Program. Youth means persons aged 15 to 30. Eligible applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, First Nations or Inuit secondary and post secondary students. Registered as fulltime students during the preceding academic year and intend to return to school on a full basis in the next academic year.
