The London Food Coalition is a recently coordinated food collaborative that rescues high quality fresh food and redistributes it to organizations working with families in need.


The mission of the London Food Coalition is to revolutionize access to fresh food in the city of London, making the healthy choice the easy choice especially for the approximately 80,000 London residents living in poverty.

The London Food Coalition understands that food rescue alone will not end hunger or solve food waste.

Therefore we will also be working to raise awareness of food issues in an effort to reduce the amount of food wasted at all points within the food system while promoting food justice.


London Food Coalition outcomes include:

  • More children, youth and families are engaged in regular healthy eating habits
  • Increased opportunities for sustainable food solutions in London, Ontario
  • Supportive environment for food prosperity initiatives that assert fresh food as a fundamental right
  • Supportive environment that leads to increased healthy eating levels in children, youth, and families
  • Community collaboration and coordination increases in London, Ontario particularly around health and food prosperity


We are seeking a part-time Project Coordinator who will provide much needed support to expand the breadth and capacity of the London Food Coalition in order to take this project to the next level.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with members of the London Food Coalition to create an Action Plan designed to serve as a guide to enhance coordination, collaboration and resources
  • Develop a sustainability plan for the London Food Coalition
  • Identify and recruit new donors to participate in the food recovery program
  • Identify and recruit new nonprofit organizations as members of the London Food Coalition
  • Maintain strong communication with existing donors/vendors to ensure that expectations are being met and recovery systems are working effectively
  • Fostering strong partnerships with core stakeholders including local government, food producing businesses and institutions, other nonprofit organizations
  • Working collaboratively with London Food Coalition members as well as local and provincial government, food waste producers and food recovery agencies, create initiatives and raise awareness about food recovery and hunger; creating systemic change through collective advocacy
  • Provide administrative support to the London Food Coalition, including coordination of bi
- annual General London Food Coalition Member meetings and other special events.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business administration, public policy, planning or related field preferred
  • Experience in coalition building and/or engagement of multiple diverse partners
  • Demonstrated ability managing grants and projects, including project design, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc.
  • Strong understanding of food systems, food waste and food recovery and a demonstrable passion for food reclamation
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Positive, enthusiastic presence with good public relations skills and respectful, professional demeanor
  • Independent/innovative thinker capable of collaborating to design and implement programs and practices
  • Strong proficiency with Social Media, spreadsheet development, databases, Google Drive and Microsoft Office suites
  • Driver's License with access to personal vehicle and appropriate insurance is preferred

Salary:
$21.00 per hour
