Effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and management is crucial, especially when explaining technical details in understandable terms.

Effectively works well with others to achieve shared objectives:


  • Installation, Configuration, and Upgrading: MS SQL DBAs are responsible for installing and configuring new SQL Server instances according to best practices. This includes setting up database. systems, configuring hardware, and upgrading SQL Server instances to newer versions.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO): One primary responsibility is ensuring that SQL Server instances run efficiently. This involves monitoring system performance, tuning SQL queries, indexing, and implementing best practices to optimize database and query performance.
  • Database Design and Implementation: Although often seen as more of a development role, DBAs may also be involved in database design. This includes designing database schemas, creating tables, indexes, and other database objects, and ensuring the structural integrity of the database.
  • Security Management: Ensuring the security of SQL Server databases is paramount. This involves setting up access controls, implementing encryption, managing user permissions, and protecting sensitive data against unauthorized access.
  • Backup and

Disaster Recovery:
DBAs implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.

This includes regularly backing up databases, testing backups, and ensuring that disaster recovery procedures are effective in case of data loss or corruption.


  • Database Maintenance: Routine maintenance tasks such as updating statistics, rebuilding indexes, and checking database integrity are essential for the smooth operation of SQL Server databases. DBAs schedule and automate these tasks to ensure database health.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: DBAs must quickly diagnose and resolve issues related to SQL Server, such as performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and data corruption. Providing support to development teams and endusers is also part of the role.
  • Capacity Planning: A critical responsibility is to anticipate future database growth and planning for infrastructure needs. This involves monitoring data growth trends and ensuring the database system can scale to meet future demands.
  • High Availability and

Disaster Recovery Setup:

Implementing solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, or Replication to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.


Qualifications:


  • Preferably experience related to migrations especially OCI Migrations (Oracle Cloud
  • Infrastructure)
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 plus years' relevant
