The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.


The Hansard Services department is seeking a solutions focused, technical and collaborative individual for the auxiliary as-and-when position of Broadcast Operations Technician.


Reporting to the Senior Operations Broadcast Technician, the Broadcast Operations Technician (BOT) is responsible for the operation of a full range of broadcasting systems and equipment required for the live television broadcast of the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

The BOT designs on-air graphics and integrates text-based information for broadcast and participates in video production for Hansard Broadcasting Services' stakeholders.

The BOT provides support to the Hansard Broadcasting Audio team for live audio and recordings. Both video and audio productions may involve travel within British Columbia for up to a week at a time.

The BOT works collaboratively with the Hansard Broadcasting Services team and communicates professionally and respectfully with team members, colleagues, senior management, Officers and Members of the Legislative Assembly and the public.


QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be/have:

  • A diploma in Television Broadcasting Operations from a recognized institution, plus at least three years of related and progressive experience in the television operations field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in the use of broadcast production equipment.
  • Experience in parliamentary principles, practices and televising techniques.
  • Several years of experience in professional broadcasting.
