Summary

The Payroll Specialist and general accountant reports to the Finance and accounting lead of Skyfold and is responsible for performing all payroll functions, respond to employees, and interact with the HR partner in payroll or HR related matters when required.

The person also secondarily participates accounting functions such as general account analysis.


Main responsibilities

  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and provincial income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Calculate monthly, quarterly, or yearend calculations of bonuses and other salarybased compensation.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Works in close collaboration with the HR partners of Skyfold on employee/HR related matters.
  • Perform general accounting tasks including accounts analysis and budget reviews with head of functions.

Qualification requirements

  • Certificat, DEP or DEC in accounting;
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of Payroll legislation and regulations (Member of Canadian Payroll Association asset);
  • Analyzing Information;
  • Data Entry Skills with strong attention to details;
  • Confidentiality and thoroughness;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and payroll software (ADP a plus);
  • Bilingual (English/French);
