Reporting to the Director of Finance & Health Information, the Health Information Analyst contributes to healthcare delivery by interacting with medical staff, physicians, health care providers, and management.

This position responds to customized ad hoc and regular requests for data from both external and internal stakeholders.

These include requests for data from the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner), CIHI, iPort Access, Risk Management System, and Integrated Decision Support Business Intelligence Tool (IDS).

The Health Information Analyst is a member of the Decision Support team and has a broad range of responsibilities.

Activities include responding to data requests, consulting with stakeholders, analyzing data, implementing and enhancing quality assurance activities and generating analytic outputs including preparing and/or delivering presentations to various audiences.

This position is also responsible for the coordination and timely mandatory submissions of various MoHLTC and Ontario Health (OH) projects including but not limited to Wait Time, Emergency NACRS Initiative (P4R), Surgical Efficiency Targets Program.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


  • Completion of a recognized university degree or college diploma in healthcare or business administration
  • Three (3) five (5) years' recent, related job experience with healthcare data and processes
  • Certified Health Information Management (preferred)
  • UMNO Membership is an asset

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (Please note that advance proficiency is a must)

  • Proficiency in data collection and management and advanced proficiency in report writing (including Crystal, 3M, Power BI, DA2 and Tableau Reporting tools)
  • Detailed content knowledge and proficiency with a variety of provincial and national healthcare data sets (DAD, NACRS, CCRS, NRS, OMHRS, etc.)
  • Excellent facilitation skills and proficiency in preparing and delivering presentations to large and small audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data/evidence into valueadded communication.
  • Selfmotivated and actionoriented; an adept team player who can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Customer focused and responsive to the specific and unique needs of each working situation.
  • Flexible, adaptable & able to prioritize & manage change; works effectively in a fastpaced & evolving work environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in identifying data needs to support decisionmaking and in determining appropriate sources of data.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and collaboration with all levels of staff including clinical managers, physicians, directors, VPs and administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and build effective working relationships
  • Development of key performance indicators, QIP scorecards, dashboards
  • Familiar with lean methodologies, Green Belt (preferred).
