The Opportunity

Reporting to the Programming and Events Supervisor, The City of Grande Prairie is looking for three creative and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for Playcare Services at the Eastlink Centre.

As a Program Instructor, you will be responsible for implementing age-appropriate programming for children aged 0 - 6 in a warm, welcoming, play-based setting.

You will be a part of an energetic team devoted to the social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and relative development of children.

You will ensure the safety of the participants while providing high-quality care and supervision. Our Program Instructors will demonstrate leadership and a positive approach to play and play-based learning on a daily basis.

Facilitates the delivery of a program; supervises and instructs participants; receives guidance or works in a team situation.


Responsibilities
As a Program Instructor for Playcare, you will facilitate a variety of activities with children aged Your primary duties will include:

  • Participating in the planning of daily activities.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and clutterfree environment.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the space and participants.
  • Creating a warm, welcoming environment through room set up and stations.
  • Checking in with participants and communicating with parents and other staff members.
  • Provide daily playbased learning opportunities.
  • Ensure the safety and appropriate safety of all participants.

You Bring

  • Minimum 18 Years of age.
  • Completed High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum 2 years direct experience working with children in a recreation or early childhood setting.
  • Completion of Early Childhood Educator Level 1 or 1 year of postsecondary education in a related field is preferred. Child Development Worker certification would be considered an asset.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR and AED Level C certification.
  • Willingness to take City Specific training (i.e. High Five (PHCD)).
  • Demonstrated safety awareness and proven success in a team environment.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Previous training and knowledge of Physical Literacy will be considered an asset.
  • A clean Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Check.

Hours
Hours of work vary on the needs of the department between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.


Salary/Wage

The rate of pay is in accordance with the CUPE Collective agreement, Program instructor II, and will be $18.62 per hour.
