Wage:
From $20.50 to $22.00 to start.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

Completed all mandatory training under the Security Services and Investigators Act of Alberta and received a Security Services Worker License
Minimum six (6) months of security experience in a similar publicfacing security environment
Excellent public service skills
Ability to clearly communicate and be understood via twoway radio, intercom, cellular phone, or landline. This includes the ability to express themselves verbally in clear, concise, English to a diverse patron base. Knowledge and fluency in another language is considered an asset.
Handle challenging situations in a professional, courteous, and appropriate manner
Be able to effectively deescalate conflict and deal with aggressive behaviour from patrons (i.e. could appropriately remove a patron from a library location if necessary).
Act as primary Incident Command in the event of a fire alarm activation at Central Library. Able to use a fire control panel to make buildingwide announcements. Assist and support the orderly evacuation of the library when required to do so.
Provide support and direction for Emergency Services that respond to emergencies that occur at the library while working
Be in excellent physical condition and able to climb stairs and continuously patrol the building for the duration of the shift
Comfortable standing at a static post for extended periods of time
Demonstrated ability to prepare daily electronic written logs and reports in clear and concise English and grammar
Ability to use Microsoft Office
Ability to learn and use Perspective Incident Management Software
Ability to learn and effectively use security surveillance system
Ability to be trained and use access control software to remotely control doors, program and issue access cards and respond and dispatch alarms to other team members to investigate
