    RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
    The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

    Position summary
    We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) and Biomedical Technology and Cell Therapy Research Laboratory (BTCTRL) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Our research laboratory features a world-class group of investigators (Master, PhD. Post Doc. Visiting Scientist) with vast expertise in cardiac cell therapy, biomedical engineering, microbiomes, targeted delivery and other cardiovascular research. Our lab focuses on bioengineering technology development and translations. We utilizes numerous techniques from cloning and in vitro cell work to the generation of experimental animals and surgical models of heart disease. Our laboratory possesses state-of-the-art equipment and is actively involved in the development of innovative techniques and devices for heart research. The lab is currently pursuing stem cell targeted cell therapy and genome editing approaches for designing next generation cardiovascular devices to be used pediatric heart and other diseases.

    General Duties

    •The incumbent works in collaboration with the Research Supervisor to develop and conduct research projects, and is responsible for achieving the project's objectives. As required, the Research Associate is responsible for the functional supervision of the Research Assistant(s) and/or Undergraduate/Graduate Research Assistant,

    •Develops and conducts research projects and protocols, processes and procedures as delegated by the Research Supervisor. Establishes the design and development of research methods, data collection and analysis, and the interpretation of results,

    •Plans and leads the development of experiments, questionnaires, the recruitment and training of interviewers, data collection, test administration, conducting interviews, planning and preparation of research documentation, laboratory work, and compilation of data,

    •Develops and implements new methods of analysis or research,

    •Leads the analysis and interpretation of research data and disseminates the results. Writes research reports,

    •Writes theoretical or methodological reports, papers or articles related to research activities,

    •Prepares and writes grant applications,

    •Responsible for the quality and results of their own work and the work of those they oversee,

    •Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of research staff and participates in their training, including Research Assistants and Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Assistants,

    •Performs various administrative tasks related to the project. May also perform tasks of Research Assistant 1 & 2.

    Education / Experience

    Education: Doctorate Degree
    Field of Study: MD or PhD (preferred) in Basic Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Science, or a related field.

    Work Experience:

    •PhD in biomedical engineering, sciences/ chemistry/ biochemistry or an MD with at least 2 years of full-time research experience.

    Required Skills


    •Possesses advanced specialized knowledge of the field or discipline acquired through a PhD Degree.

    •Have experience in designing targeted biotherapeutic delivery and animal research (rat, mice and others) experiences are highly required.
