We currently have a
Temporary Full-time (until approx. October 2023) opportunity for a
Social Worker in the
D- Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Unit at our
Bayview campus.

**Hours of Work: Weekdays:
Days, 8 hour shifts, as per schedule


Summary of Duties


To provide a full range of social work services to patients and their families admitted to D5 primarily for Neurosurgery, as well as Orthopedic Surgery in the Tory Trauma Program.

This includes psycho-social assessments, crisis intervention, counselling to patients and families, discharge planning, linkage to community resources, end of life care, Advance Care planning, team consultation and collaboration.


Qualifications/Skills

  • Masters of Social Work degree required
  • Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a Hospital setting, preferably in trauma
  • Exceptional communication skills required
  • Knowledge of the HCCA and SDM act
  • Familiarity with issues of capacity and consent
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to be a team player as well as selfdirected
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fastpaced environment
  • Commitment to student education
