    Our Assessment and Remediation team in Burnaby, BC is looking for an Environmental Scientist with at least 4 years of strong contaminated site assessment & remediation experience to join our team.

    You will work on a variety of meaningful and exciting projects for various clients across Canada but primarily in BC. The ideal candidate is an environmental scientist, environmental engineer or environmental professional that aspires to a broad base of environmental consulting and environmental project experience and has the long-term drive, ambition and potential to develop and progress within our organization.

    The primary function of the successful candidate is to assist the Project Manager with multiple projects of varying complexity within set timelines and provide skilled organization pertaining to planning, budgeting, issue resolution, resource allocation and management. This successful candidate will also be responsible for project budgets, timelines, deliverables, completion of field programs and preparation of technical reports. This role may also liaise with the client directly regarding the project work and status. This role reports to both the Project Manager and the Team Lead.

    How will you contribute?

    Under the guidance of the Project Manager:

  • Develop scope of activities and budgets for contaminated sites investigation or remediation projects.
  • Coordinate projects and deliverables by setting priorities, evaluating and managing risks, and monitor performance.
  • Design and prepare work plans and technical reports for field programs.
  • Apply a robust understanding and current knowledge of BC environmental regulations, protocols and technical guidance documents (experience and knowledge of federal regulations is an asset)
  • Review monthly invoices to clients, maintain billable targets as set by the Team Lead, ensure project staff meet, maintain, or exceed client-specific health and safety requirements and travel to project sites (primarily in British Columbia) as needed.
  • Coordinate the execution of field programs, including intrusive investigations (drilling and test pitting), monitoring well installation, groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil vapour, sediment, surface water or porewater sampling, remedial excavations, and other specified tasks.
  • Perform project management functions including budgets, schedule, communication, resources, HSE, and quality.
  • Supervise subcontractors and subconsultants during project execution.
  • Carry out field programs; ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and understood, and health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Prepare technical reports including: documenting of scope activities and execution methods; evaluation and interpretation of data, results or findings; and preparation of conclusions and recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals in response to client's requests, RFQs and RFPs
  • What will you contribute?

  • 4+ years of progressive work experience in in the area of contaminated sites investigation and remediation in environmental consulting or relevant sectors.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental science/engineering or geoscience, and a professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., AScT, etc.) recognized in BC, or be eligible for registration within a year.
  • Demonstrable experience in collaboration with your team and environmental contractors on various projects of differing complexity - your experience should include preparation and review of work plans and reports for all phases of contaminated site investigation, remedial option and plan, including planning and execution of soil, groundwater, vapour, sediment, surface water, porewater or mine waste investigation and remediation, interpretation of field observations, interpretation of laboratory data with respect to applicable environmental regulations, preparation of technical reports and specifications. Must demonstrate experience and ability in BC CSR process and HWR requirements.
  • Demonstratable experience in field project execution, supervision and coordination of other staff and subcontractors; data management, review and interpretation; and technical report writing.
  • Proven experience in fundamental project management: budget development/control, scope management, scheduling, and quality.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to and work at remote locations if required for more complex field assignments, site visits, or meetings with clients or other stakeholders.
  • Compensation Range:

    Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000 - $95,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role.
