JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- The Business & Economic Development (BED) Team focuses on delivering initiatives, projects,
BC Hydro's service territory.
- This opportunity is best suited to someone who loves working with customers, has strong
record in business development is a key requirement.
Duties include:
- Proactively responds to customer inquiries, working with business groups across BC Hydro.
- Conducts customer and stakeholder needs assessment to develop solutions in response to
- Facilitates collaboration and creative thinking across business groups to develop and implement
- Manages business case development for projects, including developing and reviewing
- Applies judgement with respect to the development of project valuation methodologies
- Ensures the purpose, justification, and cash flow profile of proposed spending is aligned with
- Researches, gathers, and presents supporting information such that business initiatives can be
- communicated and implemented.
- Responds to inquiries and requests regarding business cases and business decisions.
- Resolves issues, identifies and communicates risks, and ensures appropriate risk management
requirements.- Works collaboratively with customers and internal business groups such as Key Account
Management, Customer Interconnections, Engineering, Transmission Planning, Project Delivery,
- and Indigenous Relations to ensure business strategies and goals are met.
- Builds and manages relationships with internal and external senior decisionmakers.
Qualifications:
***- 5+ years' experience in business development, or similar experience in a comparable industry
- A university degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving capabilities for complex and multifaceted commercial,
complex information simple and summarize key facts for decision makers- Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with staff at all levels including senior management
- Ability to develop and manage large scale, complex projects
- Strong understanding of the regulated electric utility business, in particular BC Hydro tariffs and
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- There is an important conversation happening around the globe about how we use energy and
positioned to contribute. The Business and Economic Development team within BC Hydro plays a
key role in BC Hydro's electrification initiatives. We're responsible for creating and implementing
strategies to grow new industrial and large commercial customer load in B.C.
- Our centralized approach to attracting new customers includes working with government and
of locating in B.C., advising potential customers on connecting to BC Hydro's system, and creating
load attraction and retention initiatives to remove barriers. We do our work in close collaboration
