L3Harris MAS is currently looking to hire many aircraft technicians to fill permanent positions located in
Cold Lake (AB) on the military base for our project with the
Department of National Defense.


For over 30 years, L3Harris MAS has carried out the repair, maintenance, and modernization of the Canadian fighter jets, the CF-18s.

About your next Challenge
as an
Aircraft technician (AVS/avionics):Perform modifications, inspections and repairs on avionics systems as well as troubleshooting/uninstallation/installation tasks and functional tests of the avionics components on the CF-18 aircraft.


To achieve this, you will be called upon to:

  • Perform work on avionics systems and visual, functional or operational audits of a complex nature on CF-18s in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Instruction (CFTO), technical drawings, notebooks of Assembly, the standards of materials and processes and the working instructions in force;
  • Participate in the preparation of aircraft (mainly electrical, avionics and electronic systems) for the purpose of the flight or acceptance by the customer;
  • Verify, adjust, repair or replace devices and equipment of a complex nature such as:
  • On-board computers, data calculators;
  • Display screens, GPS and INS (EGI), video recorder system;
  • Communications, Radar and Omnidirectional beacon Radio;
  • Weapon system controls, tactical electronic warfare systems;
  • Helmet tracking system and data recording system;
  • Weapon systems and Sniper POD.
  • Perform repair, overhaul and modification work, determine the sequence of operations, the wiring components to be used, the routing of the cables and the method of electrical connection to the aircraft parts from drawings techniques, complex wiring diagrams, assembly kits, inspection reports, change reports, cable routing manuals, material and process standards, operating test reports, or verbal instructions;
  • Ensure the identification, routing, fixing and connection of the cables. Remove any electrical components when required and secure certain parts as part of the installation work;
  • Make the connection to the terminals and the switch panels and replace the defective equipment;
  • Conduct testing of electrical continuity and grounding of electrical and electronic circuits;
  • Attend training and information sessions, depending on the needs;
  • Inform the team leader or supervisor of technical problems, scheduling problems, additional needs and the wellbeing of technicians;
  • Follow the rules of the control of the tooling;
  • Consult the reference documentation such as CFTO, work processes and other related documents;
  • Carefully fill out the inspection sheets, forms, documentation, records and other documents of the aircraft as required;
  • Perform the tasks assigned to him by the team leader or the supervisor.
  • Note that the aircraft technician (AVS/avionics) will have an important trainer role to play with the technicians of the Department of National Defense. Considering its many years of experience on the CF18, he will have to welcome, train and accompany technicians in their daytoday tasks and follow up with assigned team leaders or supervisors.
In addition, the technician must comply with the administrative and technical rules of the establishment where he is assigned in respect of:

  • Health and safety;
  • Foreign object damage (FOD);
  • Flight safety;
  • Documentation and records;
  • Working Instructions;
  • Process specifications.

Your profile:


  • Diploma of college studies in avionics or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position;
  • Endorsement on CF18 mandatory;
  • Extensive experience of the CF18 aircraft required;
  • Communication skills in both languages English and French, oral and written;
  • Good communicator and strong training s
