Job Synopsis

  • The planning, learning and disaster response (PLDR) department is responsible to facilitate and coordinate the best practices and learning across MCC's program. The department provides support in project funding and planning, monitoring and evaluation, including disaster responses. The program assistant assists with the administrative needs of the department with a particular focus on coordinating project management with Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB). The position also serves as the primary assistant to the codirector for disaster response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting.
  • Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
  • Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use his or her gifts within the local faith community.
  • Maintain and oversee financial information for MCC's account at Canadian Foodgrains Bank including tracking CFGB project budgets, wires, MCC's equity balance and fiscal year allocations, tracking project agreements in coordination with the PLDR director and coordinators.
  • Maintain Growing Hope Globally (GHG), disaster restricted funds (DRFs), humanitarian assistance fund (HAF) project charts.
  • Compile requests for equity from other CFGB members and coordinate communication and contributions of MCC equity to other members, including sharing proposal and reports.
  • Assist the department with PlanWin offboarding and Hub community onboarding.
  • Maintain and update the department handbook
  • Coordinate MCC partner and country staff participation in CFGB sponsored workshops.
  • Assist PLDR coordinators and MCC international program staff with annual budget preparations for CFGB, GHG, Humanitarian Assistance Fund (HAF) and disaster restricted funds (DRFs).
  • Write and maintain project summaries for MCC's CFGB projects for us by communications and donor relations.
  • Assist the PLDR director with scheduling/organizing and drafting/responding to correspondence.
  • Coordinate and maintain PLDR project records/files (electronic, paper files) related to disaster responses, MCC's account at CFGB.
  • Reply to routine inquiries and followup on correspondence, representing the beliefs and values of MCC.
  • Assist with meeting organization (i.e. set up videoconference, prepare meeting materials, minutes, food preparation).
  • Compile list of partner grants for MCC Canada's annual Canada Revenue Agency 23010 filling.
  • Take minutes for PLDR department meetings and webinars organized by PLDR.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations (i.e. Power Point presentations and written materials) for PLDR staff.
  • Assist PLDR staff with coding departmental expenses.
  • Exercise confidentiality in discretionary matters.
  • Occasional travel to PLDR meetings in Akron, PA.
  • Other duties as assigned.
