On-call Service Coordinator & Caregiver


As On-call Service Coordinator & Caregiver for Home Instead (ob Nova Scotia Limited), your time will be shared between working at home a couple evenings a week and a couple weekends a month and working out in the field assisting clients with activities of daily living.

Job Requirements:

The On-call Service Supervisor will work closely with the Staffing Coordinators to provide the highest quality service to clients.

  • Sound judgement and decisionmaking skills
  • CCA certification is an asset but not required
  • Own vehicle and valid driver's license

On-call responsibilities:


  • Ensure outstanding customer service by scheduling and coordinating care.
  • Review evening or weekend schedule and any trouble spots that might arise.
  • Answer each call in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor and check missed clock ins and clock outs.
  • Communicate with care professionals and clients regarding any scheduling changes.
  • Monitor, mediate, and record client and caregiver activity and followup on assignments.
  • Contact escalation person when questions arise about clients or caregivers that require input.
  • For your weekend rotation, ensure all open visits from Friday at 5pm to Monday 5pm are filled.
  • Leave specified oncall weekends free of firm commitments/appointments where you will be unable to answer the phone in a professional manner.
While visiting clients you will assist them with activities of daily living including:

  • Companionship and conversation
  • Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
  • Medication and appointment reminders
  • Accompanying clients to appointments
  • Dementia and Alzheimer's support
  • Personal Care
  • Mobility assistance
  • Palliative Care
