Reporting to the Facilities & Operations Manager, the Biorepository Technician Level I is responsible for the daily activities of the biorepository to ensure sample handling, sample storage and transport of products are completed in a compliant and cost-effective manner.

The Biorepository Technician Level I ensures all aspects of the biorepository operations are consistent with internal and external quality, regulatory and safety requirements.

Other duties may be assigned.

ExternalQualificationsStr

  • Post Secondary level education (College Diploma or higher) in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution. Licensed Trade or engineering diploma or degree.
  • Experience with GLP, GMP or Quality Systems is desired.
  • Experience with Security or Information Technologies is desired.
  • Experience with gas systems or other mechanical equipment is desired.
  • Relevant experience with Health Canada, FDA, AABB or FACT is desired.

InternalResponsibilitiesStr

  • The Biorepository Technician will ensure all SOP's, forms and records for the biorepository operation are completed and followed.
  • Investigates and provides summary reports on incidents, deviations and nonconformances and provides recommendations for quality improvements.
  • Ensures biorepository operates in an efficient and safe manner with continuous monitoring and management of liquid nitrogen.
  • Learns and understands all technical and operating aspects of the company's equipment product line including factory training as required.
  • Communicates directly with customers regarding transactions, orders, any problems or technical support requirements.
  • Field work as required at client sites including equipment delivery and setup, equipment service.
  • Daily Environmental Checks
  • Weekly Manual Dips and Recording of Display/Levels
  • Freezer Alarm Testing and Internal Maintenance
  • Internal Sample Handling (Withdrawing & Deposit)
  • Assisting with Sample Disposal
  • Inventory Record Keeping
  • Alarm Response Procedures
  • Transaction Log Record Keeping
  • Quarterly Testing
  • Internal Cryocart Validation
  • Barcode and Labelling
  • Alarm, Deviance, Incident Reporting
  • Inventory Auditing
  • Performs day to day shipping activities
  • Other Duties required by the role.
