As a key member of our dynamic team, you'll dive into the heart of HV technology, taking the lead on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing existing HV equipment and associated electrical safety systems.

But that's just the beginning - you'll also play a vital role in supporting the design, implementation, and commissioning of cutting-edge HV installations, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in this field.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides maintenance support for all commissioned HV and other electronic equipment for all accelerators site wide.
  • Provides assistance for HV devices in the experimental facilities and other specialized installations across the site.
  • Supports new high voltage developments, installations and test stands, including ion source test stands.
  • Reviews high voltage related fault reports and, in coordination with the Operations Group, assists in correcting deficiencies.
  • Provides troubleshooting and repair where possible of HV power supplies and other electronic devices.
  • Assists high voltage conditioning and commissioning of various systems.
  • Maintains HV equipment documentation with an emphasis on keeping existing and new installation documentation up to date.
  • Organizes the storage of and keeps inventory of spare HV power supplies and related electronic components for all high voltage systems site wide.
  • Works in compliance with Electrical Safety Regulations and ensures design implementations are compliant with all applicable rules and that
    TRIUMF standards and procedures are followed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong background in electronics
  • Good working knowledge of DC high voltage equipment
  • Familiarity with techniques for air, high vacuum, and dielectric insulated systems
  • Clear understanding of hazards associated with high voltage work
  • Proficiency in methods to mitigate risks
  • Awareness of safety protocols and regulations, including WCB regulations and
    TRIUMF standards
  • Knowledge of DC high voltage power supplies
  • Basic understanding of vacuum systems and instrumentation
  • Experience in creating and updating documentation using CAD and word processing software
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to solve technical problems and provide practical solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment

NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:
The position requires the incumbent to be trained and designated as a
TRIUMF NEW. Training will be provided by
TRIUMF.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Electronics technology diploma from an accredited technical school with a strong electronics program.

At least 4 years of practical hands-on experience with HV power supplies, preferably working in an environment with DC high voltage equipment and systems.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
