The Opportunity


The Motorman is responsible to perform Engine Room watches as instructed by the Engineer and carry out operational and maintenance work within the engine department as required.


Key Responsibilities

Special Task:

  • To familiarize himself with regulations and work procedures pertaining to tasks to be
  • To execute assigned tasks in conformance with work procedures as instructed by the 2nd Engineer or the Duty
  • To execute assigned tasks safely, to the best of his ability, and to report hazardous conditions without delay to the Duty
  • Assisting the engine room watch keepers/UMS duty engineers as required, in particular with regard to the operation of the plant.
  • Carrying out the duties of a watch keeping rating if required and in possession of watch keeping
  • Assisting with the maintenance of all machinery, technical equipment, plant as instructed by the engineering officer.
  • General cleaning, housekeeping duties as instructed by an Engineer
  • The maintenance of his accommodation in a clean and tidy
  • Work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work and work aloft shall not be undertaken without prior approval by the 2nd
  • Take part in the safety culture on
  • Any other duties assigned to him by Chief Engineer and Second

Qualifications

  • Valid engine room watch rating certificate
  • Prior sailing experience as Moterman
  • Valid Seafarers Medical certificate
  • Valid STCW courses
  • Advanced First Aid an asset
  • Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice
  • Reliable mode of transportation & valid class 5 driver's license
  • Fluent communication in English

Working Conditions

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
