Title:
Team Leader 1-Logistics


Reports to:
Logistics Supervisor or Logistics Manager


Shift:
Afternoon 3:30p.m. to 12:00a.m.


Job Purpose:
Organize daily workload to ensure daily Logistics targets are maintained, in a safe, efficient, profitable manner. The duties for TL1 and TL2 are very much the same.

The difference between the two is time in the job, and elevation of performance and responsibility expected from a TL1.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


  • Prepare for a smooth Startup, know the workload for the day, present the Startup Meeting, ensuring everyone can hear. Make presentation lively and upbeat. Motivate and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Verify that the Forklift Check Sheets are being filled out properly, as well as ensuring the proper Work Instructions are available and up to date.
  • Monitor workload vs. manpower. Move the manpower throughout the warehouse to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Lead, manage and develop (cross training) team members in a positive and constructive manner and maintain Training Matrix. Provide training to associates as required including the practical component of dialectic training
  • Ensure compliance of all company policies and procedures, ISO and all Government legislation including the Human Rights Code, OHSA and ESA.
  • Complete all necessary paper work at the end of day. Communicate with your fellow Team Leader that is following your shift, informing them of any and all concerns that came up on your shift. Review and manage all Emails in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain daily logistics numbers on the white board before the start up meeting.
  • Track Attendance (O/T, absence, time off) of Associates and ensure accuracy of Time and attendance in HRIS. Contribute to PRP's (performance reviews) and report to Supervisor on areas of safety, quality and production concerns.
  • Help develop and implement improvement plans for Safety (JHSC Inspection Report) quality and productivity (recommend labour needs), including principles of 5S, and provide initial reports to the Supervisor. Promote and maintain 5S methodology, as well as doing daily audits.
  • Ensure any Inventory discrepancies (adjustment) are sent to Inventory Control.
  • Partner with Manager and Supervisor to support Ygaya meetings.
  • Report all First Aid Reports to H&S Coordinator.

Education and Experience:


  • High School math (grade 9) and English (grade 9, 10, 11 applied or grade 10 academic), and 35 years relevant work experience
  • College Diploma or University Degree with additional Leadership courses preferred
  • Minimum 4 years in a logistics environment
  • Forklift license required
  • Management training an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as Visual Manufacturing or another type of MRP system
  • Working knowledge of WMS & RFQ is considered an asset.
  • Must have a good understanding of logistics and customer service.
  • Strong working knowledge and compliance with employment legislation including ESA, OHSA, Human Rights, etc.
