$71, $92,340.00, commensurate with experience


JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and securing operation of the UCDSB Network.

This includes maintaining and configuring the Board's SD-WAN firewalls and IPSEC/GRE VPNs, wireless access points and power-over-ethernet switches, Layer 2/3 LAN switching, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) operations, internal and public DNS services, network monitoring tools, and data center LAN networking including VSAN switching, DMZ and internal server VLANs.


BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES:


  • Monitor and routine maintenance of network topologies & related hardware.
  • Manage business internet circuits, including monitoring, reporting outages, and processing Move/Add/Change/Delete (MACD) requests.
  • Liaise with service providers regarding UCDSBowned private fibreoptic connections.
  • Facilitate network requirements for phone systems, HVACs, building automation & security systems.
  • Review and action security advisories related to infrastructure patching, network vulnerabilities and intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Maintain edge and cloudbased web filtering services.
  • Maintain DHCP services and internal/public DNS services.
  • Triage network disruptions & respond in a timely manner, according to severity of disruption.
Other

  • May be required to be oncall to perform technical service duties outside of regular business hours during the week and on weekends, as needed. The Network Administrator is responsible for keeping network systems operational by monitoring performance and identifying and fixing any issues. If a technical issue occurs outside of regular business hours (weekdays and weekends), oncall maintenance is required to diagnose, and repair the damage as efficiently as possible.
  • Incumbents generally have authority to provide advice and guidance to technicians on how to troubleshoot network issues, or other related problems. Incumbents may recommend new equipment to improve network.

Qualifications and Experience:


Education & Experience:


  • Minimum: 2 to 3 years Specialized Community College (i.e., Network Administrator, or Computer Systems Technician with Networking or related specialty)
  • Minimum: 5 to 6 years of related experience

Specific knowledge of:


  • Networks, firewalls, and RADIUS authentication, including provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring (i.e., LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD, WAN and VPN)
  • SASE, CASB and Endpoint protection technologies (i.e., SASE, CASB)
  • Network infrastructure implementation, following industry standard security principles such as zero trust and rolebased access controls.
  • Network infrastructure equipment maintenance, upgrades, licensing, and decommissioning
  • Common network protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, Layer3 routing (VLAN), DHCP, DNS
  • Audio/Visual & video streaming services & related networking

Competencies:


  • Ability to maintain applicable technology.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments.
  • Ability to use knowledge to provide advice for network issue resolution.

Interpersonal Skills:


  • Communications occur daily with employees and the manager, and on a weekly or monthly basis with suppliers/contractors, sales representatives, customers/clients, and internal executives. The most significant contact is with staff members and supervisors to solve network issues and complete requests.
