We are currently looking for a
Business Analyst to join our Corporate Capital Accounting team in a Permanent position.

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Accounting, you will be responsible for the financial reporting and related analysis of NS Power's property, plant and equipment.

NS Power's annual capital expenditures program is typically over $300 million and encompasses hundreds of individual projects annually.

As Business Analyst you will:

Provide accounting for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes, ensuring actual costs are representative of the value of the work done, which also includes working closely with construction, procurement and finance to capture the accruals.
Work with business leaders to prepare budgets and forecasts for capital projects.
Provide detailed variance analyses to budget and forecast to monitor spending.
Work with business representatives on process review to identify process improvement opportunities.
Perform tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.

You have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Excel and are comfortable using accounting software.
You possess solid oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating ideas at a variety of levels.
You have strong organizational skills, are detail oriented, and are comfortable working to deadlines.
You can work well both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
A working knowledge of Oracle Financial System, Power Plan, Tableau, and PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
