    Job Description

    As part of the GEPR Energy Canada team, you will play a significant role in a special project aimed at developing technical solutions for Rotating Machines. Rotating Machines Peterborough (RMP) Engineering is part of GEPR Energy Canada operations and provides design engineering capability to enable rotating machine product solutions for the full range of the Power Conversion portfolio, such marine, industrial, and energy applications with electrical and mechanical energy conversion systems. You will be working with both the local Engineering team and Global Manufacturing locations to fulfill specific project requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Machines Services Engineering Leader.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Engineering interns will be working closely with the broader engineering team to execute several project activities related to LV POD design and analysis, Automation and design tools testing, Services and Parts continuous improvement and Lean projects, product marketing and business development, and website development

    The primary responsibilities include many of the following:

    • Perform validation testing on design and Automation tools
    • Data organization and simplification of technical reports (Services and Parts)
    • Digitization and organization of Physical records
    • Perform preliminary design calculations using in-house design software, and hand calculations.
    • Develop a database for Services quotes on rewinds
    • Deliver engineering study reports based on analyses and calculations using a wide variety of design and analytical tools
    • Develop 3-D models, drawings and BOM for smaller subcomponents of Large Electric machines based on guidance from other team members
    • Provide technical support to engineering, sourcing, Parts, field services and product services personnel

    Skills Required:

    • Engineering students from various disciplines (Level 1 to Level 4)
    • Strong background in Engineering Physics, Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering fundamentals
    • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation
    • Knowledge of common manufacturing processes, shop tolerances and industry standards
    • Proficiency with software programs such as MS office, AutoCAD, Pro-E, MathCAD, Java, Python, Fortran, UNIX and Microsoft OS

    Educational Qualifications:

    Students pursuing Engineering undergraduate degree (Electrical/ Mechanical/ Materials Science/ Computer Engineering) - Level 1 to Level 4 from Canadian University (preferably in Ontario)

    This opportunity is intended for current students who will be returning to their in-class studies upon the completion of the work term in Fall 2023. It is not intended for candidates who will have graduated prior to the start of this position.
