Reporting to the Technical Team in the Center of Excellence, the SAP BASIS Administrator is responsible for the ongoing maintenance activities associated with the City's complex, hybrid cloud ERP solution/landscape.


You will be capable of operating independently and may be required to provide mentorship and cross training to junior or other staff.

You will collaborate with functional delivery team members across the Enterprise Commons Centre of Excellence to ensure the health of the Enterprise Commons systems.


Responsibilities include:

  • Perform complex endtoend delivery/design and maintenance for systems within the scope of expertise
  • Make recommendations to the Team lead on tasks distribution within the team as it relates to their assigned activity
  • Actively maintaining recognized expert level knowledge in multiple identifiable specialisms. Provide definitive and expert design advice in their specialist area(s)
  • Conduct hands on testing and regression testing for solutions
  • Produce test scripts, unit tests, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services
  • Specify requirements for environment, data, resources and tools
  • Provide reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project. Report on system quality and collect metrics on test cases
  • Review system software updates and identify those that merit action
  • Oncall support maybe required 24x7 on a rotational basis
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Degree in a Computer Science and 4 years relevant experience in SAP Basis, DataBase Administration, and Unix Scripting and Administration; OR Diploma in Software Development related fields and 5 years or progressive experience in SAP Basis, DataBase Administration, and Unix Scripting and Administration;
    OR 1 year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience in SAP Basis, DataBase Administration, and Unix Scripting and Administration
  • SAP BASIS Application support experience is required
  • Experience working with a complex Hybrid Cloud landscape along with BTP Administration skills would be an asset
  • Experience with SAP HANA, Oracle Database Administration, SQL, Windows XP/7/10/11, Unix and VMWare
  • Knowledge in ORACLE /PL SQL
  • Ability to install, upgrade and support SAP Application systems and Databases independently
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to excel within a team environment
  • Ability to perform complex endtoend system integration, solution delivery and maintenance
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and the ability to present ideas, recommendations, and proof of concepts to senior levels
  • Understanding of "securebydesign" methodologies, and least privileged access concepts
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and handle tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Evenings and weekends as required.

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
