Opportunity


The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the screening, recruitment, orientation, and co-creation of youth engagement programming and services for new immigrant youth between the ages of 13 and 24.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Cocreate and deliver program activities for groups of youth (age ;
  • Develop materials/manuals for workshops on topics such as crosscultural communication, health and wellbeing, suicide and anger management, postsecondary opportunities as well as facilitating these workshops;
  • Organize social and crosscultural events and relevant field trips;
  • Support settlement and integration needs of the age group;
  • Develop program participant intake procedures and conduct intake interviews;
  • Provide information and referral services to all program participants;
  • Prepare program reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis or as needed;
  • Participate in and contribute to community and government consultations related to the delivery and enhancement of youth services;
  • Attend program planning/review meetings, monthly team meetings, all staff meetings, and special meeting as required;
  • Develop marketing materials and conduct promotional activities both internally and in the community to recruit program participants;
  • Assist with the monitoring, development and implementation of quality assurance measures;
  • Adhere to the Policies and Procedures and Personnel Policies, Procedures and Practices of the Society.
  • Degree in Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work with a minimum of oneyear related experience in the last two years with youth settlement work, project coordination & administration, youth engagement; or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience;
  • Knowledge of immigrant and youth settlement issues, integration process, needs and risk assessment, youth dynamics, and the impact of trauma;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; a second language is an asset;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs and material;
  • Able to make public presentations and group facilitation;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team setting;
  • Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships;
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and meet deadlines;
  • Strong computer and internet skills, including entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, MS Teams), iCare and other databases.
This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
