    SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST, FP&A (OPERATING)

    Victoria

    The Opportunity

    The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department is part of BC Ferries' Finance Division and is responsible for managing BC Ferries' 12-year capital plan, annual operating budget and ad hoc analysis as the organization's primary business intelligence unit. The team consists of highly motivated finance professionals that support organizational budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across all operating units and capital projects, as well as provide expertise in financial analysis to inform decision making.

    You will work within the operating stream of FP&A, supporting the Manager in facilitating the annual budget process, quarterly forecasting and ongoing financial reporting. You provide decision-making support on the operating, financial and business activities of the company. Working both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams, this position promotes fiscal responsibility through financial planning, analysis and reporting.

    You are a key team member, working directly with budget holders, departmental managers, executive and other stakeholders from across the organization. Your work includes corporate level planning as well as discrete analysis on key programs and initiatives. The position supports planning and decision making at all levels of the organization.

    Qualifications and Skills

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • Professional accounting designation or related advanced degree is an asset
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in a relevant finance role. Practical experience in a FP&A role is preferred
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop solutions by considering financial and non-financial perspectives
  • Understanding of forecasting, financial modelling and management reporting
  • An outside the box thinker who figures things out
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, articulating ideas clearly and effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and proven relationship building skills
  • Ability to show leadership and influence business decisions as a trusted advisor
  • A detail oriented, team player who is self-motivated, organized, adaptable and curious
  • Strong financial modelling and Excel skills, with the ability to balance data analysis and information with timely decision making
  • Experience with an ERP system (. Oracle), FP&A software and/or advanced analytics software (. Power BI) is desirable

    Additional information

    This is a regular full-time position with a target salary range of $102,200 to $127,700 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's education, knowledge, experience and internal equity.
