Description
Owlkids, publisher of Chirp, Chickadee, and OWL magazines, currently has an opening for an Editorial Assistant. The Editorial Assistant is responsible for supporting the editorial team in both print and digital platforms, and reader outreach.
-
Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm and suggest story ideas for Chirp, Chickadee, and OWL
  • Research and write content appropriate for children three to 1
  • Factcheck, copy edit, proofread content
  • Schedule and post web updates
  • Manage contests and source prizing
  • Organize subscriber testing; manage reader panels
  • General support for the Owlkids publishing team

Qualifications

  • One or more years experience in children's or educational publishing
  • Knowledge of early childhood development an asset
  • College or university degree in publishing or related field
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Selfmotivated, team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work
  • Proficiency with Word, InDesign, Excel, WordPress, social media platforms
  • French is an asset
