Responsibilities:
- Full cycle accounting responsibilities for financial statement preparation which includes balance sheet reconciliation and adequate documentation
- Prepare reporting and variance analysis on an individual property basis and/or consolidated limited partnership portfolio basis
- Consolidate and prepare the annual budget and reforecast on a periodic basis
- Work proactively with the Operations and Leasing team to identify issues regarding the monthly financial results, tenant CAM / TAX questions, and provide guidance on proper accounting policies
- Collaborate with Development Team by preparing and updating budgets, contracts, and forecasts in Yardi Job Cost/Construction Management module
- Prepare audit and tax working papers. Draft financial statement reports with supporting notes in accordance with ASPE
- Identify and review old or significantly high accounts receivable balances for allowance setup or bad debt write offs
- Assist the team leader to ensure that the overall team monthly reporting is completed on time, and accurately
- Coordinate the integration of new properties into the accounting workflow and reporting structure (acquisitions) and also assist with dispositions, as required.
- Participate in the monthly Operations / Accounting meetings on portfolio planning and the discussion and presentation of property results
- Act as a systems and process support for Accounting and Operations
- Support and implement special project initiatives including; documentation, process efficiencies, and implementation of system related improvements
- Mentor and train newly hired and junior Property Accountants on the monthly reporting process, accounting policies and procedures, and accounting system
- Prepare HST reconciliations and returns
- Other ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
- CPA designation (or pursuing) preferred
- 5 years of commercial property accounting experience
- CAM/Tax knowledge
- High proficiency in the English language
- Clear and effective communicator (verbal and written)
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and driven to delivering timely results without the need for ongoing direction and supervision
- Customer-focused, readily adaptive to change, and works well with a wide variety of people and personalities
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Working experience with Yardi Voyager
