PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age.

PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care.

PLASP also operates 32 full-day Early Learning And Child Care Centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 - 6 years.

Reporting to the Manager of Specialty Programs, the Program Assistant will offer administrative and resource support to the Holiday Programs during Winter Break, March Break, and Summer, and work within a team of PLASP staff to plan and implement on and off-site P.A.

Day, and Enrichment events for the After School, EarlyON and ELCCC programs.


THE POSITION INVOLVES

  • Sourcing, researching and investigating potential field trip locations for P.A. Days and Holiday Programs, and report findings to Manager of Speciality Program for approval.
  • Preparing and distributing all documentation for transportation and staff scheduling for offsite P.A. Days and Enrichment Events.
  • Working with the Communications Department to ensure that approved P.A. Day flyers are printed and distributed in a timely manner.
  • Providing resources, supervision and support to staff and activities at Holiday Program and P.A. Day sites.
  • Visiting enrichment providers in the After School, P.A. Day, ELCCCs and EarlyON locations on a regular basis to assist with maintaining quality program standards.
  • Assisting with staff training prior to the start of Holiday Program.
  • Cross referencing field trip invoices upon receipt to ensure accuracy and preparing required purchase orders for signatures by the by the Manager of Specialty Programs or Regional Managers and ensuring invoices are received by the Accounting Department for payment.

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Educational background in Recreation, Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, dated within the last six months, suitable to PLASP
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR level C
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Awareness of the need for and respect of confidentiality
  • Selfmotivated, flexible, cooperative attitude and able to accept increased responsibility
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Strong mathematical and budgeting skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Daily access to a vehicle and a valid Driver's License
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)
  • Dresses appropriately to convey the organization's professional image
  • Experience working in a Camp (Holiday Program) environment an asset
