GRIFFITH FOODS
R&D Technician

Position Summary:

To provide support to R&D Scientists and teams with necessary technical service and support to fulfill our purpose and achieve business plan goals.

Propose ideas for new research projects and/or solutions to problems involving creativity and ingenuity. Act as a trainer for students.

Responsibilities:

Reports to the R & D Management Level of Griffith Foods Canada, and works under the direction of a more senior scientist. Assists in conducting experimentation contributing to new knowledge, products, or technology to Griffith Foods Canada on an ongoing basis and communicates all relevant matters pertaining to Research and Development.
Provides detailed recommendations for new products, processes, techniques, or solutions to problems.
Maintains good laboratory records and provides reports, tables, graphs, product information, presentations, etc.
Acquires and maintains the necessary technical skills and scientific knowledge through reading and training in new technologies.
Provides professional communication to all departments of Griffith Foods, Clients, and Suppliers as required.
Assists in conducting experimentation contributing to new knowledge, products, or technology to Griffith Foods Canada on an ongoing basis and communicates all relevant matters pertaining to Research and Development under the direction of a more senior Scientist.
Provides technical assistance to all departments of Griffith Foods, Clients, and Suppliers as required.
May perform one or more of the following with assistance:
Operates specialized equipment and instruments.
Assists in production trials of new processes or manufacturing procedures.
Assists in product presentations.
Sensory panels.
Plant trials.
Creativity / Lateral thinking sessions.
Interacts with clients, customers, suppliers on an as needed basis.
Ensures a clean and safe working area.
Packages and ships samples to clients.
Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.

Qualifications:

Specialized training in a recognized Community College program, preferably in Food Science
Minimum 1year hands on experience in similar rolerequired
