INTRODUCTION:


New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited children's mental health agency providing a range of compassionate, innovative and accessible services for children, youth and their families throughout Simcoe County.

PURPOSE OF POSTION:


The Brief Counsellor provides shorter term individual, family and group counselling to children, youth and their families at home, in school and throughout the community using a brief model of intervention.

This position participates in the myDAWN pathway (Depression, Anxiety, Wellness, and Navigation).

A newly formed partnership with the Georgian Bay Family Health Team, where Family Doctors and Counsellors work together to offer seamless, and timely mental health care to support to our mutual clients.

This pathway has been recognized with The Bright Lights Award presented by the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.)
    _B.S.W. in progress may be considered._
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with children, youth and their families in a children's mental health or related service.
  • Experience/training in Single Session Counselling.
  • Experience working with evidence based/informed programs.

  • Continuously assesses and challenges assumptions, personal unconscious bias and commits to understanding diverse perspectives, experiences and their intersectionality.
  • Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge, awareness and skills that contribute to a creating a culturally safe environment for staff, clients and families.
  • Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems.
  • Confident, articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing.
  • French language is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
